Had a bit of a bump today - help needed with part numbers etc.

I'd persevere and try to find a bodyshop that will repair it. Looks to me like a bit of plastic welding and a quick fill, paint and done.  I would avoid the bigger bodyshops as they probably won't want to look at it as their mainstay is insurance work , and if they did they'd charge to a small fortune . Find a smaller bodyshop , ask around friends with nice cars who care about them. Chances are someone will recommend someone they trust. Ask to look at some of their work too.
I wouldn't go paying the best part of £4-500 to replace it.

For plastic welding try one that specialises with motorbikes.

Where abouts are you? Just wondering if anyone here can point you in the right direction.

Plus don't worry about plastic welding surface results are amazing.

The back box will clean up too, so no worries there.

Depending on where you are there is a company called 'Little Knocks' which specialises in similar repairs and has a few outlets I believe. I reckon that bumper can possibly be repaired.

Claire its your car you have to go with what you thinks best, but it could be easily fixed, If you look through Plush automotive's build thread he knows a guy who is amazing at plastic welding. Also if you buy a new one that will still need colour matching, which is the hardest part of the job.
If you claim off your insurance you will be paying for it over the next 5 years, even if you have protected no claims, you still have to declare that you made a claim which will restrict the number of insurance companies willing to take you on therefore meaning you wont always have access to the cheapest quotes.

Well I've decided to claim on my insurance. I had a quote over and above my excess for buying the part and getting it sprayed and fitted. So I thought I'd make an insurance claim as I have guarateed NCB so I don't lose anything really.

I went to see the insurance assessor today and he confirmed that the lower valance and exhaust would be replaced. I get a courtesy car too so it's no major hassle really. Just need to book it in but I'm going to wait until I'm back off my holiday.

Only problem is I don't get to choose the bodyshop if I want the courtesy car but never mind.

The extra increase in premium over the next 3 years (that's how long you normally have to declare accidents for) probably won't be as much as the difference between my excess and the cost of a new valance and exhaust so I may as well get my money's worth out of the insurance company and just pay my excess. 

I've been to two different bodyshops and they have both said they would be happier to replace than fix.

You can chose the body shop of you'r choice.I'm shure i read it on the net somewere,don't let them fob you off might be worth a Google ?.

Ok, as I've mentioned in another thread I had the lower half of my bumper replaced after this incident last September.  A couple of weeks ago I noticed a 'bulge'.  I've not noticed it before and don't know what's caused it.  It looks like it's sort of warped, or maybe it's not been bolted on properly and has caused it to flex slightly.  Or is it normal?

It seems like I'm not the only one with the problem, as discussed here but instead of trashing someone elses thread with my pics I've put it here in my original thread.

I would say there is def something wrong there. Exhaust to close & the heat making it buldge?. I would be back to the garage that did the repair & get them to have a look.

Your, ahem...bulge is in exactly the same place as Chips' I reckon!   Sorry...! 

We were looking under his Ed30 on Sunday speculating as to what it might have hit to put the lump in it but maybe it's normal although looking at Chips car we were convinced it didn't look right.

He might be able to get a photo of his up so we can do a comparison.
