MK 5 GTI sounding like a diesel.

Hi all,

New user here, have the same diesel noise coming from my gti, only happens when the engine warms up and can be heard at idle only .. my mechanic  can replace the Adjuster, chain, Tensioner etc, but is it necessary to replace all these parts? The Adjuster is damn expensive...

Ukdub, did you sort yours out , and what parts did you replace?

This is a well know issue, if you look under the car there is a little flap / panel thing which comes off and exposes the fuel lines.  These vibrate causing the noise - the solution is to pack something like bubble wrap in with them to stop them vibrating.
