Which coilovers?

Sorry to revive this thread, I am also looking into getting coilovers for my Jetta.
I have been running my B12 sport line kit since nov 12 and love the ride and handling (purchased from Graeme @GNJ) and I want to keep this ride but drop the car another 20-40mm and have the flexibility to tow approx 1800miles a year (trailer tent no more than 650kg) I also want to keep my VZ's ET44 225/40/18 tyres.
Picture is of current stance on the B12 kit.
My budget is around the £700 mark.



Some have suggested Spax RSX, KW ST-X and FK Konigsport which are all around my budget.

Any advice is appreciated in this minefield!!

why not h&r ultra lows?

my brother has some for sale, they ride great and go as low as you want

You're not going to get another 20-40mm on the front without running narrower tyre sizes and rolling your arches...
You have pretty much the choice of the market this side of the KW Inox line / v2/v3

Thanks jaffa, i have PM'd your brother but I would prefer newer kit.

Thats what I figured Jamie which is why i included the current tyre sizes (the fronts were new in Feb and rears have 6mm) What size would you recommend?
Choice of the market was not the feedback I was looking for, more what experience that people have with the suggested recommendations. I know there will be the age old debate but feedback non the less.

I like my kw v1s. 215s or 205s depending on how low you are

How do they ride if you drop them to the 65mm?

Ride is good, obviously firmer but nothing horrible. I dont think you can tell its on coilovers. My fronts have 1 turn left to go down and the rear has no adjuster in so its at the lowest.

I would go for 205/40.
Problem is on a 8 inch rim you're kind of stuffed either way.. you'd have more clearance with an 8.5 believe it or not... #fitmentissues lol

As you say people will try a coilover and love it and go mental over it.. that's the only coilover in the world, etc etc..

PERSONALLY I'd go for Apex RDX, they're like £480 or so, they go lower than you'll ever need and are a high quality construction with great driving characteristics. They are defo on the side of racecar so are a bit harder but then again, that's just what you would be used to (I assume) with lowered cars. It's not uncomfortable anyway :)

But like I said you have the choice of the market, except JOMs, APs and KWs don't go low enough.

Thanks Jamie I will take a look at these, i am fairly sure that if I go lower than 60mm then i start needing the chassis notch.
I just want the car to sit lower and level (on the arch) and still have the flexibility to raise the rear when i do tow, get the family in and without ruining my spine with the 20k miles that i do a year.

Nah you'll be fine to about 95-100mm which you won't be able to drive around at anyway! :)

Rear you are generally OK with as you can camber away pretty much to your hearts content :)

Glad its could be just the fronts then, expect 2 brand new F1 Assy 2's to be for sale soon then!
Michelin Super sport are about £140 a corner, I have not paid that for a tyre since my Yoko 008 days on my MK2. Kept me alive tho!
