New Guy in Newcastle
« on: January 08, 2014, 01:27:33 pm »
Hey all,

Just a quick introduction to say hello.  I picked up a silver 55 plate 5 door GTI last Friday and have been over the moon with it so far.  The only thing I wish it had was an armrest but everything else is spot on.

I had a quick nose around the forum and it looks to be very active and full of very useful links (the retro fit of an armrest guide has already put me of trying that one!) So I'll get a cup of tea and get browsing properly.

I'm still in the honeymoon period with the car but so far so good.  Seems to be the perfect family car that I get to enjoy as well ;)

Thanks,

-Mark.

Hey there, I hope you're enjoying the car.  I have to admit to this being my first turbo'd car, it picks up really well, it could get addictive :)

I pick mine up tomorow, I hadnt plan on doing anything with it as its to be my daily driver but after mincing about on here I've already got plans for stage 2+. I can see this turning into a bottomless pit like my evo.....

Thanks for the welcomes all :)

I made my first cock up, ordered the wrong wiper blades....my car must have been on the cusp of when they changed the design!

Stupid mistake and £20 down the toilet  :ashamed:

I'm just in South Shields so a fair few of us up here then :happy2: maybe someone will help out with the armrest situation if you get stuck? I've not done it so i wouldn't be much good, happy to lend a hand with stuff if you need it though

Cheers buddy, tbh I'm getting use to the lack of armrest.  My other car has one so it's always just an initial shock when I get in the golf as force of habit makes me look for something to lean on ;)

Ordered the other set of wipers and they look nothing like my fitment so the first set I ordered must have been right - they don't seem to want to go in though.  Will give them another crack today ;)
