It'll be fine with the normal auto paint such as the Halfords stuff. I used a few coats of plastic primer then several coats of either matt on some bits and gloss on other bits, all have been fine. Only problem I've had is on one gloss surface which has plastic filler underneath, started to crack soon after the cover went back on, I should have left the filler to dry for longer.

Pics are in my build thread.

Did mine a few months ago not difficult at all
Took the filter apart as if changing and took the MAF out masked mine up, satin black outside blue gloss on the raised section, did the battery cover while I was there as well

As with any kind of painting prep is key once it was taken apart I gave it a good clean and sanded any rough areas before cracking on

Good luck and post some pictures once your done

Its just a way of life.
