Tyre load rating

I've been looking at getting new tyres lately for a new set of wheels and a fair few of the tyres I'm looking at don't have the recommended xl load rating.

At the moment I fancy giving the 595 RSR a little go, however these only come in with a load rating @ 550kg. Now in theory I know that 550 x 4 = 2200kg so it should be acceptable - but does consideration need to be factored in here for the greater weight in the front end ? Might not be an issue I thought I'd ask the question though and check suitability

W is the speed rating, not the load rating. The load rating is a number such as...

"Federal Tyres / Trackday Track Day / Federal 595RSR Federal 595 RSR - 195/50 R15 82W TL"

...these are rated at load rating 82 for 475Kgs and W for speed not greater than 270kph.

Track day tyres? You checked with your insurers or are these purely for off road use?

Yea I realise that w is the speed rating, that was a typo Ooops ! (was meant to read "With" - modded now)  

Yea the load on the 225x40x18s are 88 so 550kg I was thinking that these should be ok for the car but I was looking for confirmation on that. These tyres are road legal so it shouldn't be an issue but I may aswell let my insurer know anyway, as it won't cost me anything, but yea on these the speed rating is w - 168mph tbh I never even looked at the speed rating and on this type of tyre I kind Of expected to be even higher than w. This will be fine for me though

Remember the tyres load and speed rating must be equal to or better than the manufacturers factory fitted tyres. If your car came with Y speed rated tyres and 91 load rating, you shouldn't drop below these specifications. Your insurance will be invalid if you have an accident and your lower spec tyres are deemed to have contributed to the cause (or even if they didn't).

Oh well that's the Feds out the window !
Load and speed comes up short on oem specs although exceeds vehicle specs !
225 40 18 has got to be one of the most popular sizes out there you'd think it would be easy enough to get a proper high performance tyre pretty easy.

When I said Y and 91, I was only using an example. I'm not sure what tyre spec your car has, so don't take that as a fact.
