Non genuine timing tools

Hi just a quick question really, I'm wanting the timing/alignment tools for the vag 2.0tfsi engine for the timing belt and the cam chain jobs. I know you can buy genuine ones from vw but I've seen ones made by laser and was just wondering is there any differents using non genuine timing tools or is it best to use genuine vag tools? Just thought I'd check incase there was anything

The laser cam locking tool is utterly rubbish.  The pins are just not strong enough.  I got one cheap so drilled and tapped the pins to M8, then welded the pins to the plate.  They don't move at all now.

The genuine tool is far superior.

Admittedly I've never done a cambe,t on one of these but I have done plenty of others and have always used Laser tools with no problems!

Just type the tool part numbers from the link into google - select  Snapon for their tool prices for repetitive use tools but for the DIY person I think Laser tools do the job.

I have checked snap on but wasnt able to find any from them.

So I guess its Laser or Genuine?

Heres the part numbers for the genuine gear there is also a little guide on it

Does anyone know if the price for genuine and laser is miles apart? Also if you look in the link I take it that is just a normal torque socket?
