Help please - removal of intake turbo pipe

I'm trying to fit my new evoms intake and completely stuck on the "easy" bit, removing the old pipe between the maf and the turbo. I've tried clamping the two bits for the OEM clamp but the pipe just won't come off. I've tried normal pliers, self locking pliers, channel lock pliers etc but the f'ing pipe just won't come off.

Has anyone had this themselves and can give me some advice please as I'm at the stage of driving the f'ing thing off the nearest cliff!?

When that happened to me the engine was stone cold. Ran the car at idle for 10 minutes to warm everything up and the pipe came off easily when I tried again.

Cheers will give that a go, is it the same for fitting the new turbo silicon pipe? (Ie easy to do with warm engine)

Mine was also very tight to rremove so I used mole grips to
Hold the clip open and then used a radiator hose removal tool also known as a hook tool. You could make one by just bending a old screwdriver 90 deg at the end making a hook like shape

Installing the silicone coupler pipe can easily be done with the engine cold.
Without traction power is nothing!

Thanks again guys, I went back to it this morning before work; warmed up the engine for 5 mins (after refitting the OEM intake argh).

Using the self clamping pliers I managed to get the hose off. The clamp flew off and fell down the back of the engine but luckily landed on the floor rather than getting stuck. Found the knack was to pull to the right hand side (battery side) of the engine bay and also slightly towards the bulk head.

Rubber grommet got stuck on the turbo as well but that was easy to get off - more peeled it off rather than pulled it.

EVOMS now on and already noticed the engine revs much more freely, there does feel more instant power but that may be a placebo. Plus its loud! Very loud compared to the OEM intake. Coming off boost gives the traditional put'tish sound which I missed from previous turbo cars over the year.

Now just got to wait for the postman to deliver the 24mm 12 point deep socket so I can get the heat shield on the back of the engine!

Did this end with cut hands by any chance? Especially when it's this cold!  :signLOL:

Remember when you unscrew the posts to attach the heat shield, there are small bolts on the rear that will fall off if you dont catch them

I tore my two plastic posts to bits till I realised the nuts on back I took them off first and it was much easier think they were 10 or 13mm :signLOL:

Yup cut hands, tools dropped in the engine bay and a lot of swearing!

One of the engine cover bolts came off no worries but the other one some clever tool before had sheared the thread inside the plastic case, so that took about 30 mins to fix!

Luckily for me the nuts on the back were stuck on, that saved more swearing and more things dropped in the engine bay!

If  I ever meet the brainiac who thought that bl00dy clamp was a good idea, il probably strangle them with it!!! :-)
