APR or R-Tech for stage 1 on my Edition 30?
« on: January 13, 2014, 04:07:36 pm »
Hi all,

As the thread title says! Pro's and Cons...

What do you guys think?

I like the switchable Idea of APR plus all the other gizmo's!!

But is it worth the extra cost?

Anyone tried both ?

You will get pretty much the same output from either. Nick @ R-Tech tweaks each map to the modifications you have on your car by means of dynoing, adjusting, more dynoing until it is right. He won't let you go unless you are happy.  He does a full health check too - if you decide to go to APR then make sure your dealer does this too.

R-tech do switchable mapping too  :happy2:

So to summarise: you will get the same(ish) result from either, a full health check and a lifetime of aftercare from R-Tech, switchable mapping at both, and R-Tech is significantly cheaper.

Hard to do pro's and cons as the pro's are the same for both. Only cons could be distance to R-Tech dependant on where you live, or price of APR (especially as you don't really get much more on the face of it)

Try a search on Google or the forum for more responses but I doubt you will hear a bad word about either of your choices.

R-Tech for the following reasons...

1. You will struggle to find a bad word about them, I searched to a tuner for months and nothing but good words about R-Tech.
2. At the time I got my car mapped by them they were ATLEAST £300 cheaper than AMD who are 5 mins from where I live and have nowhere near the reputation on forums etc that R-Tech have.
3. Niki is a genius, simple as, I have him on facebook and everyday he's mapping cars and producing amazing figures, he wont take your money and map your car dangerously, it will all be well within its limits and will provide nothing but 1st class aftersales if you do have a problem.
4. The drive home to wherever you live will be epic, trust me, been there done that got the t-shirt!    :driver:

All in all you cant go wrong with R-Tech, the guys know their stuff!! Only problem you might have is getting a booking soon, from what I've seen on Facebook, he's busy! and rightly so! I cant wait to go back to him for stage 2!

APR or Revo are basically the same....so just down to how far away from the dealer you are.  :happy2:

Anyone got the switchable option from R-Tech?

How does it work? Also interested as to the linear throttle option? - Any feed back on this from anyone?

I'm pretty sure I've seen 1.8t switchable maps but not 2.0t. :-/

Was VERY happy with my Revo Stage 1 map, totally transformed the car! Do not overlook them.

Stage 2+ is good too but would go R-Tech for that given time again...
