Need Help - Removing Subframe / VWR dogbone Mount
« on: January 27, 2014, 11:24:42 pm »
Hey guys, potentially looking to buy Andys Subframe with VWR Mount already installed. I just have a few questions and hopefully someone can shed light on it.

So removing the subframe, is it easy enough to do with my mates on my drive (we all have a skill levels of doing jobs around 6 out of 10 - Technical wise) Is this something we can do with a couple of jacks, axle stands and some decent sockets, or is it defo a job for the pro mechanics?

If the mount is already installed, is it just a straight swap or is there a lot more too it? Will i need all new bolts, just stretch bolts and just use the old ones.

Thanks for any help guys.

Once done you will need to check your alignment...
Without traction power is nothing!

You can do it on the drive but its a pain, easier to do it up in the air.

If the mount is already installed, is it just a straight swap or is there a lot more too it? Will i need all new bolts, just stretch bolts and just use the old ones.

Yes... straight swap. IIRC the bolt is a stretch bolt so should be replaced... but Im almost certain there is no real point in replacing it. If you do replace it, it will only be a few quid from VW.

Thanks for any help guys.
