Maf sensor were to buy?

Im going to look at a car from the forum at the weekend but he's just said the engine management light is on and he says it's the mad sensor..

Does anybody know we're to but one a decent price or have one laying around for a price?

Or do you think I could just clean it?

Also I have a old mk4 gti maf sensor in my garage I'm guessing they will be a lot off difference?

same as above.

How do you know that MAF is not reading correctly? did you log the car to see what it reads? Get fault codes first before you start messing with sensors.

I don't know he says it is and was obviously gonna get one sorted for when I buy it...

eurocarparts..vw audi parts online, stealers, or ebay..check the VIN to make sure and p/no. on the old MAF assembly.

Without a scan for the stored fault codes no-one can really help you.
As a general rule if the maf is bad/faulty the car should run better if it's disconnected.

He said he had it plugged into a diagnostic machine at his mates work..

And I was thinking about disconnecting it..but going to be gutting on the 3:30 drive back :( and it should be running 270bhp :( lol

Only ever buy GENUINE MAFs either from a TRUSTED supplier or VW themselves.

He said the car runs faultlessly and if it wasn't for the light coming on you would know ..
So I asked if it was fueling right because trying to figure what the problem is..and he replied with Im guessing maf is over-riden when faulty and car relies on map and lambda to control fuelling.

Is this true or ?

I think you're sleep walking into getting this car if the owner isn't going to sort it out before you accept it. The issue could potentially be more costly than just the cost a maf replacement. 
btw a genuine new VW maf costs around £120

Technically the are genuine because there branded....I can't seem to justify spending £70 more when there a bit off plastic I'm guessing there's that much off difference then..I think he is gonna negotiate it in the price and says it runs fine..he's of this forum the black gti

Would it not be prudent to get the owner to sort it before you buy? I think it would give you more confidence when buying.
