No offence, but the Cupra is hardly a good looking car and the white only makes it look massive.
Why do people choose them over a Golf?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What can be ugly to one man is a beauty to another. The K1 certainly draws alot of attention and turns heads though. People ever taken a pic of your car whilst you were driving it, or have young kids say "Woaahhh look at that dad"? Had old people comment on its looks and obviously all teenage boys love it too. And im 20 so I love it also.
Like I said, I don't want to cause offence, I just think they look particularly gash with the whole BTCC body kit thing. The car has quite a soft shape, and then a huge overly aggressive aero-kit bolted on, which I presume no function other than for visual appeal. I've just always though they look a bit, dare I say it, chavvy...
The Golf is a classy car.
The bodykit isnt huge it might look that way but its not
Chavvy is VXR etc
And classy arent repmobile favourites.
Audi A8, now that is classy.
It has heritage. It's iconic.
Leon Cupra arguably has more in common with the mk1 GTI than the current Golf GTI.
They are or they're common as muck. Where I live I see more Leons than I do GTIs, mind you a lot are diesel FRs with the aero kit, driven by people who obviously presume that kit makes their car FAST!
This made me chuckle, over on piston heads forums people were saying the same thing about Golf GTD and A3 TDI drivers. No doubt they would include Leon FR TDI drivers in this but we are often overlooked.
Sorry, may be I was being a bit naive, I've just read the review on Parkers and it does indeed look like a fine car. So congratulations.
Still couldn't live with the image mind, but perhaps that's me being superficial.
Image. Rep mobile? Im not sure what the image of SEAT is. Most people dont even know what one is. Image doesnt matter to me, I have no brand loyalty. At the time of buying the cupra I was simply after the greatest bang for buck which hands down the cupra is king of in the hothatch land. I drive my car, not sleep in it or caress the interior. If say Kia or hyundai came out with a car that blows the VAG hatches out of the water I would happily get that next. Live is too short to stick with one brand your entire life. Im a explorer, like to try new and different things
Anyway I dont mind a bit of banter or controversy, but as I see it there is a clear difference between the GTI, S3 and Cupra and ones choice ultimately depends on what they are after in a car.
