Car idle speed raising on its own and dropping lumpy. Video
« on: January 15, 2014, 07:41:36 pm »
As title my 2008 gti 55,000miles full vw history.
The idle keeps raising on its own then falling then repeating.
Heres a quick video,
Please excuse my daughter in the background.
Any help or ideas appreciated.

20 minutes should sort it for the PCV valve.

The cooling temp may need to develop but there's a few interesting threads on cooling problems like this

Done the test and removed sipstick engine splutters when put back in all is well.
So not the pcv valve.
Throttle position sensor ?
It only seems to do it when warm

If you've never replaced it, for the sake of £37 I would.

If you pull the dipstick out and it runs rough, and when you put it back in it still runs roughy it's the PCV.

I think Steve might have mentioned it once or twice already.

Exactly the same as what I had, sometimes it would do it and others it wouldn't. It's the pcv, change it and it'll be fine.
