Approaching 100k, what to expect?

Hi, as subject says, my ED30 is fast approaching 100k and I was wondering what to expect in terms of components that likely to need replacing?

It's an 07 5 door with DSG and has given my virtually trouble free motoring for the last 3 1/2 years, full service history at VW with all the DSG and cambelt services done at specified times.

What should I expect to start to need replacing and maybe just to help 'freshen' up the old girl.......suspension, electrical, engine parts etc?

She runs and drives superb, although not to say it feels as tight when I bought her with just 18k on the clock!

Would love to keep in tip top shape as the condition is pretty much A1 for age/miles etc. and if I can keep for another 3 years trouble free I'd be a happy owner  :happy2:

Any comments or experience would be appreciated.

Get a new revision G diverter valve fitted(around £40 for part)new revision N Pcv fitted(around £30 for part) and a new fuel pump cam follower fitted(£38 for part) the dampers will be really tired now maybe get the bilstein b12 kit fitted (around £650) and lower it 20 mm at the same time and get any worn suspension bushes checked and replaced where needed.

Maybe treat her to a full detail with some good products to keep the bodywork in top condition.

The air compressor would be on my list at the next timing belt change complete with poly-belt and tensioner - along with the above parts listed in the last post.

Wheel bearings will also come around soon but the above needs to be under-taken at the right time to be cost effective!

My 06 GTi DSG is nearing this landmark too, although it was on 94k when I bought it so I'm a noob.  :driver: I've already replaced the lower front bushes and the CV boots are next so was also wondering that else I should replace proactively.

Could you explain that the diverter valve and PCV are for and why I should replace them for the revisions you've listed?

Thanks for the tips. Reading this makes me think my DV and/or PCV may be on the way out as my idle is a little lumpy sat in traffic in neutral and I struggle to get 30mpg even on a clear run with a light foot.

The PCV sounds straightforward so may replace this first as not too expensive.

I would expect it to be exactly the same as 90,000 but the odometer will read 10,000 more!

Seriously though I wouldn't like to guess what you would actually need. It depends on what it has done for the last 100,000 miles. If it has been blasted round country lanes and tracked frequently; everything that the guys have mentioned above and more. If you have gently cruised up and down motorways at 65-70 then it probably only needs a few stone chips touched up and a service!

May be worth cleaning the oil pickup pipe. These get blocked over time. My mate did his TDI's yesterday and it was so much quieter afterwards  :happy2:

Suspension bushes will have some wear on them at that mileage so it may be worth swapping those - possibly for some polyurethane ones which will last longer as well as sharpening up the ride.

100k is just another number on the speedo really. The car should have 2.5x more miles left in it easily  :happy2:

Agree with whats said before.  Mileage is just a number on the clocks. Any fault can happen anytime whether its suspension related, pcv,  dv or cam follower.

Have you had the fuel filter changed? Its not part of any service schedule so unless you have specifically asked for it to be changed, chances are that its still the original.

Oil pickup is in the sump. Not a hard job for a mechanic to do. Remember Nick from R-Tech did a thread about it after finding a cap with a blocked pickup.  :scared:
