I've just fitted one, got a window mounted aerial and fitted it. I get a few channels but most often than not no signal at all, still need to get and electrical friend to connect the 12v wire. But I did hear that the unit can power the aerial itself. Confused but I'll see what it's like after connecting to power

Yea, I avoided anything but a roof mount because I wanted good reception. I have the kinetic stubby and have a power feed coming from the 12v socket in the boot.

When I first installed it was fine but since we've had this bad weather its stopped receiving stations!

I can get bbc stations in certain area's but its very hit and miss and lost all my local and other national stations.

Checked wiring and thats fine too!

Very annoying!

I used the stick on windscreen aerial and have had no issues even up north in the highlands.

something like this   http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AutoDAB-AD-2-Glass-Mount-Patch-Antenna-DAB-Car-Radio-Aerial-Antenna-/251157349695?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Terminals_Cabling_ET&hash=item3a7a25053f

Had Dab in my company golf and this aerial is as good as the factory fit aerial, in my opinion  :happy2:

I had a DAB in my mk5, first with a stick on window one but reception was patchy (Essex/herts border) so changed to a polo dab roof mounted aerial, which is the same size and shape base as the normal aerial so just switched over and ran an extension fakra cable to the unit - no power needed as unit supplies it
VCDS cable HEX-USB+CAN. New but can do the basics including coding

I bought that aerial too, did you connect the 12v wire or just leave it loose?  Might it be worth taking the trim off again and checking if it has been properly earthed?
