Clutch Slip after Stage 1?

So thinking of getting my Eddy booked in at R-Tech for stage 1..


What concerns me is, will this cause my clutch to slip? I know nobody can say for certain of course but just wondered what people's experience is?

Have you gone stage 1 and then immediately needed a clutch?

Im on 70k original clutch, no other mods than a panel at present.

I'd imagine is different on car to car basis. But i know Nik can adjust the map for you to be more linear, less agressive, which will help in you have concerns. i know he has done this for other Edition 30 Stage 1 owners.

I'd image would be ok with that mileage and power. Plus dependent on if you plan on driving it hard in the lower gears.

Mine started the SECOND I went stage 2 in my Eddy, another chap posted the other day his went a day or 2 after going stage 1 in his Eddy. Luck (or lack of) of the draw, both R-Tech tuned. Some slip at stage 1, some don't at stage 2+.  Depends how those 70k miles have been driven, maybe.

I have a custom linear map, that won't save your clutch, the extra ft lb torque will still be there at 3k-4k rpm when you put your foot down in the higher gears.

Personally I'd plan on needing a clutch when adding power to a manual car and if its not needed its £1k towards something else bright and shiny!

Mine was stage 1 mapped and i now have clutch slip on 17,000miles...as MC said think its luck of the draw and how its been driven previous

Ditto mine went on stage 1 at 35k at a cost of £700. That's one of the reasons I went with DSG on my R

My car was on 52k miles and as soon as I went stage 1 revo map on the test run it started slipping!
Go on to the search engine and type in clutch group buy
Started one up a couple months back, full helix kit for £770 posted if this helps anyone

Hit and miss.

Our current r&d ed30 with 50k on ran a 300hp 330lbft and within 4 weeks is started slipping, it's my nephews car who is hard on clutches.   We turned the torque band down and down to until we could fully load the car on the dyno with no slip, this ended up being 280lbft but allowed up the kick the turbo up about 5700rpm giving the peak power 318bhp 280lbft of very very linear power but just not that madness down low.  But saying they I have ED30 K1 clutch units slip on the dyno even before starting to tune then.

Some setups will tune to stage2+ on a stock clutch and not slip for a few months at 350lbft+

If anyone with an r-tech s1 map with a slipping clutch who are not keen to invest in an upgrade unit we can adjust your map to bring it to 280lbft to make the car usable.  But if you are thinking of going to stage 2 or 2+ then get on the phone to Alex at AKS and book in for an upgrade unit.
