Be a bit surprised if the 'ED40' didn't match the Leon Cupra on paper.

This Leon Cupra will be the market rival of the Astra VXR but there's not a lot to distinguish any of the VAG range with the increased platform sharing.

Has anyone tuned this latest S3 engine yet?

APR have cracked the new gen ECU's so are probably writing files as we speak

Will these files be a viable option for anyone who wants to keep their warranty though Jas? Doesn't look good at the minute.

From what I read, tuning boxes seem to be the only way to go with most manufacturers now if you are wanting some more horses..

I'm unsure I haven't been keeping up with discussions on the Facebook group, but it does look that way. There seems to be some concerns about the safety of tuning boxes also if you drive hard so dunno.

We'll see how things pan out I suppose but tuning is becoming harder and harder. If tuning boxes start to take over popularity wise I'm sure the OEM will do something to detect those somehow also.

Suppose it really will come down to, gotta pay to play.

i think some have already written files for the new S3 lump as different kettle of fish to the Mk7 GTI in terms of ECU encryption

Good to hear that the ECU is now readable/cracked. For most though i would imagine that it's only good news if when the car is mapped it doesn't announce it to everyone in the dealer when it goes in for service/warranty work. Unless of course you have very deep pockets and it doesn't bother you.
