With the recent spate of performance hatches delivering 300+bhp, VW has to up their game to keep in the game.

The new Honda Type R is being touted as having maybe 280-340bhp
The Merc A45 AMG has over 330bhp
BMW M1 has similar power.

Thats the one hot hatch on the horizon that im interested in.  The only thing wrong with the last two type Rs was no mid range torque.  Thats no longer an issue.  I reckon its going to be epic!

Same here!! They are taking their sweet time over it so will probably have the turbo petrol thing sussed by 2015. If it's anything like their previous engines, it should be bomb proof - no DV or PCV issues.

Recon it will suffer from carbon on the valves though as it's direct injection with a similar PCV to the TFSI (from what I can tell from the photos) :sad1:

Fark.

People messing with these Mercs already then? Tuning boxes, I assume??

Yarp..

If it wasn't for the poxy short shifting in the first 2 gears (5700rpm shift points to presumedly protect the drive trian) , I dare say it would of gone a decent amount quicker on the 0-xxx figures. Bloody thing is in 3rd at 46mph when using LC...  :stupid:

Being a former CTR owner I am another one who is really looking forward to seeing this when it hits the roads. Should be a hoot.

Surely it would be money...VW mans mouth  :signLOL:

5 year finance is HP :happy2:

Nope depends how it's done.
I bought a Triumph Street R on 5 year finance and that was as a personal loan through Lloyds Finance.

I think the point is it's all borrowing money, there's just slightly different names for it.
Sideways yo!
