DSG oil and filter change

Ive just been informed by my VW garage that my DSG is due its oil and filter change. I was wondering if anyone has done this themselves (im sure some of you's have lol ) and was wondering if its an easy job or any special tools required. I'm pretty handy with the spanners and was wanting to give it a go myself. Also anyone know the part numbers for the proper oil and filter and rough price of the parts.

There's a couple of different DGS filter / gearbox types, and the oil is about £20 per ltr as it's specific stuff.  Basically, if you can get your dealer to do it for £170 or so I'd not bother getting dirty. From memory it involves dropping the oil out, removing the airbox and removing the filter which is sited underneath it, replacing the filter, filling with oil until it overflows. Connect VCDS and run the engine up until the gearbox fluid hits a specific temperature while the excess runs out of the overflow/drain hole, then refit the sump drain plug. All a bit of a chew on really.

Following on the above from Viking. Once all that is done you then need to a settings reset on the box. The oil and filter cost me almost £100 and that was discounted from a mate at VW. If your midlands my best made is a Indy in Worcester and will do it for around £140-£150

For the small price differnce i'd stick with VW then if you have DSG issues, you should have more luck of goodwill and assistance.

cheers guys, think ill just give it to VW as they're quoting 170 for the job, for 20 quid or so they can have the hassle lol
