5w30 fully synthetic to vw 504 507 spec. Castrol Edge is popular.

Just put the infamous Millers Nanodrive 5w40 in mine. Pricey stuff but I've not heard a bad thing about it. Prob would have gone Castrol edge 5w30 if not.

keep a look out for offers from Opie oils or Halfords (I just got a good deal on Castrol Edge at Asda).

For gearbox oil use VW only as you'll only be changing it again further down the line.

VW 504 507 spec is the vital bit!

Only if you are sticking with the stock longlife 5w30.  If the car is out of warranty then you can use a better oil.

These engines suffer from burning oil when tuned and using longlife.  I switch 90% of the cars over to the millers nanodrive and they run smoother and don't burn oil.

Either use stock box oil, or millers crx 75 w 90 nt.  I use the millers on cars that crunch and it cures them.
