Help needed with average fuel consuption gauge
« on: January 24, 2014, 10:23:17 am »
So hopefully I don't get shot down in flames by you guys for asking what is probably a really silly question. But here goes, we have a MK5 5 GTi which we have owned for 6 mths and we recently had a some work down on the car by a reputable VW indy garage. All is fine with the work but I have noticed that the miles per gallon or average fuel consumption gauge on the hi-line display seems to reset itself back to "0" each time I turn the car off. However, prior to getting the work done on the car it didn't do this and it always showed the most recent mpg. Is there some way of changing between the 2 as I have no idea how to do it ?
Thanks in advance for any advice given. Be gentle people

If the little number on the display is 1 then it's your trip mpg. If you switch off the car for >2 hours it resets to ---. If you press the ok button the 1 changes to 2 and this is your total average mpg that doesn't reset with switching the car on/off.
Without traction power is nothing!

Everyone's allowed to ask a silly question here without getting shot down in flames.  It's only the really persistent ones who feel the wrath...

Shadow blue DSG 5 door with leather, sunroof, 18" Monzas, MFSW.
Full list of mods:  Seat inserts and a VW bottle opener.  Each worth 20bhp.
