cruise control switches off when indicating right....

yip, if i put the indicator on to turn right the cruise control switches off.......

a big bump in the road seems to unsettle it as well

but sometimes it wont switch on from a restart

is this a wiring problem / known problem ?
problem seems to happen more often in the day, than at night, could this be related to batt voltage in any way ?

its really a pain for cc to behave like this

car is a 2006 mk5 gti - with mfsw / dsg / rcd300 if that helps, and i just got it very recently and its out of warranty.......as is always the case, i would like to have a go myself but any pointers will be appreciated thanks !

Was the cruise control factory fitted or retrofitted (either by dealernor independent)?

oem factory fitted cruise control

i changed all the brake lights in case there was an impedance error as one had just failed
i also swopped indicator globes left to right

could it be the stalk ?
or general under voltage / over voltage ?

i cant see it being coding

I would say its the stalk. Early ones are known to fail as mine did in my old Octavia.

New stalk should suffice.

Yep, I'd go with Hedge's diagnosis or an incorrectly fitted stalk/steering controller.  If that all fails to fix it then it's possibly a failing brake pedal switch.

ok since its easier to check the brake light switch - how do i do that ?
it will knock off one suspect

Ideally you'd need VCDS.  You can use MBV(Measured Block Values) to read the signal to the ECU from the switch.

It may also affect the brake lights but it's not 100% as it's a to part switch so the lights work independently of the ECU signal.

VCDS would also give you more of a clue to the actual problem.
