Definative Yay or Nay - can a DSG MFSW be easily retro fitted????
« on: September 26, 2009, 10:00:34 pm »
Hi All

Just looking for a simple yes or no.

Can a DSG MFSW be retro fitted to a 05MY DSG GTI?

Local stealer says not possible only a factory option :(  so I thought it best to ask people who really know!!!!

Cheers

A few people have done this mod. You need DSG but I think the car needs to be a specific build too. That way, the wiring for the mfsw is there and it's a case of swapping the covers on the steering wheel arms.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Sorry should make it clear.

It's the flappy paddles I want to work on a dsg car that doesn't have them.

Can live without mfsw. But would be a bonus.

So far as I understand all you need is the correct steering wheel controller/slip ring combo and the steering wheel itself.  if you don't already have a MFSW you'll also need an airbag wiring loom.

I've done a few changes on Octavia without difficulty.
