GT bumper fitting to 1.4 fsi

Hi there guys, so today my gt bumper came in the post and I went to try to get it fitted by a guy that got recommended to me by someone, now he says that it won't fit and that he would need to do a really big job which would include cutting etc. Now I don't know if this guy is telling the truth or not because he has never done a job for me and he seems a bit dodge but does anyone know if this is true and if so what would I need to do to make this conversion, right now I just have the standard bumper on my golf

Without changing the front end carrier etc, yes the only way to fit it is by cutting away some of the plastic, this is hidden by the upper grille afterwards and is no big deal.

If you search there are loads of threads on other forums where this has been done with pictures.

Thanks for that i had a read of it, i now fully understand whats going on

But in your opinion do you think I should take the risk of getting a proper body shop to cut out the bumper for me or spend £160 on a front end carrier as its a safer option?

I cut my own one on my old car, take it off little by little until there is enough for it to fit.
A bodyshop could do this in half an hour at most

It's not a big job to be honest mate, as long as you have a really strong sharp knife you'll be fine.

It took me about an hour from start to Finnish to make one fit on my golf and that included removing the old bumper.

Like Will says. Just keep trimming until it fits! It's all hidden by the outer centre grille so it doesn't really matter if you make a meal out of it either.

The trimming is a lot more easier than it looks. Save you £250 on changing the slam panel.

I trimmed mine to fit, just keep trimming until it fits right, takes about 2 hours from start to finish!
