Replace ABS/Brake pad loom
« on: January 26, 2014, 10:38:38 am »
Hi,

Just hoping that someone might have/know of a how to guide for the above.

I have my brake pad warning light on and upon inspection discovered that the wire to the brake pad sensor connector has snapped clean off on the side of the loom that goes up through the wheel arch. I've spliced the wires together at the moment to knock the light off but would like to do a proper repair and install a complete new loom.

I have the harness for the abs/brake pads which goes up through the wheel arch.  Problem is that there a 4 wires on the end that need connecting/soldering and I have no idea where to so any diagrams/pics on this would be a HUGE help!

Hoping someone can help.

Thanks,

Alex

i did the same to mine, all i did was cut the existing cable and splice the new cable in. cables are all the same colours so easy to match. there are 2 types of loom one with xenons and one without.

if you have factory fit xenons they have sensors, which is also on the same loom as the brake and ABS sensors, hope that makes sense

i had the same issue with mine, got the new harness from VW and fitted, i soldered the wires as far as i could chase them back, remove the battery and battery tray and you will see where they come through the wheel arch then go into a thick wiring loom peel back the tape cut the wires then solder them together try to use as little solder as possible tho as too much resistance down the abs wire will cause intermittant faults, any issue or help feel free to inbox me

I've emailed you the wiring diagrams required for the ABS system to help with your repair.

You'll need to check the harness you've got as pointed out by MICAERIN  - No zenons you need harness
