Removing surface rust from brake discs - talk tactics to me...

Is it just a case of getting a decent wire brush on them or do you use any kind of fluid/lubricant that wont make them look rusty again straight away

ummmm ! I noticed that also, my fronts seem to be ok, but the rears are starting to show rust marks, i did use two different types of paint one on the front and one on the rear, so looks like i need to do the rears in the same as what the fronts have been painted in  :signLOL:

Sorry it dosent help you, but would be good to see if there is anything that can prevent this from happening again...

If it's not broke, Mod it.....

Silver is the way !

You can't
Discs are made of Iron
Iron rusts. any time moisture gets on them they will rust.

RE the bells you can paint the centre section near the hub as this is not a friction surface.

so just a stiff brush then and back on the car. when people talk about a clean disc then and dont mean brand new have they just worked the rust off by hand?

Are you talking about rust on the bells on the disc or the actual surface of the brake disc itself?

If it's on the surface of the disc as above, braking would clear it off. Do a few hard brakes.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
