ABS PROBLEMS NEED HELP
« on: February 01, 2014, 08:49:15 pm »
changing springs on car and found abs sensor broken, so replaced the sensor, now i am getting code for n/s/f wheel speed sensor mechnical failure intermittent. When you start the cra abs light is always on speedo reads iratically eg can do 60mph in first gear although only around 30mph, but once driven for a fw minutes the traction control light and tyre pressure light also come on and speedo goes back to normal. Is this a wiring fault or a faulty wheel bearing?

Recheck your work and if all is ok you'll need to scan it with VCDS.

Look on here to see if anyone is close to you

Remove the sensor you fitted and recheck it for contamination, if all looks ok You'll be able to test that sensor in the advanced measuring blocks - Jack that wheel up and then spin it whilst viewing it on VCDS.

This may help

VW sell a repair wire for the New Beetle so I would presume they also do for your vehicle.

Short term I'd try a squirt with something like this. Then use some silicone grease on the connector to keep water out and avoid further oxidation. Might get you away. Deoxidiser and silicone grease are always in my tool box.

Sounds the job - must get a tin to try but the price!! - cheaper anywhere else?
