200cel cat, do I need a re map
« on: February 04, 2014, 10:17:04 pm »
I have just brought a 200 cel cat down pipe,  can this be fitted with out any problems or will it require re mapping. How easy are these to change or any tips on how to do this.
Thanks.

If you will get CEL then you will need remap your car to turn it off...
They must change only one bit in your ECU map to disable "CAT checking"...

You should be able to get away with fitting a Lambda probe spacer, which will reduce the chances of you seeing the emissions light.. I got away with mine on my stage 1 for about 4 months before the light came on, then simply used a diagnostic tool to turn it back off  :happy2: your car will probably run richer with a 200 cell fitted though, until you get it suitably mapped.

I have fitted my 200 cel down pipe,  no engine check light as yet. It realy picks up at low revs now. Will take it next week to see if it will pass emotions at mot test station.  Nice rush sound when you realy give it some beans  :happy2:

For me spacer didn't help....

I would be interested to know the outcome of this.

Hi
Sorry it took so long to get back :ashamed:
I took it to a MOT test centre for a smoke test. It passed with a prity low emitions  :happy2:.The car is stock but now with turbo back exhaust,  Ionly use 99ron fuel so dont know if this helped.
Fast idle test Co Max 0.20%   it ran at 0.11%
Idle test Max 0.30% it ran at 0.06%
So I think its pretty good.  Looking to have a re map next so I dont keep having the engine management light on and get some more power.
