Re: MK5 TDI (SOME QUICK PICS) NEW R32 MILTEK ADDED
« Reply #15 on: May 20, 2014, 05:12:13 pm »
New R32 style miltek catback supplied and fitted by awsome gti I had a long life one on before just the back box removed and 2 inch pipe onto the original system.

Was not pleased with it and had a loss of torque the miltek is miles better power is now back.

Only thing It does sit really low which I knew but it's seems to be sitting more low than others I've seen.

Don't know if it's the ppcb bumper as it doesn't seem to bas deep as oe r32 bumpers (might just be me) or the car is not lowered by much just edbach pro springs?

A few quick pics

Cheers

From what I've seen the Miltek ones do sit very low.  IIRC someone one here using air ride had to remove theirs because when they lowered it right down it was dragging the floor.

Cheers for the comments.

Anyone know how to get the miltek sitting higher there seems to be a lot space to move it up do you reckon it's worth taking back to awsome regarding the fitting?

Some suggestions I've had are shorter brackets etc.

There a unused  original mount still there if that was removed there's a lot of space to move it up.

think it could go pub bit but you will still see some of it-I have the same issue with my Ed 30 back box of which milltek have now realised a shallow  one.You could do what Nav has done and get it power coated black

Yeah mines only a few weeks old so should surley be the newer version it did have to be ordered in first.

I don't mind seeing some of it but at the moment I can see all of it lol.

Don't know if theses replica r32 bumpers are as deep as the genuine ones? That could be a issue aswell.

Looking great Gaz, but the box does look a bit low. Maybe all millteks are the same though.

I think if I had your system I would have to paint the big shiny box part in matt black VHT paint, so you just look at the tips  :happy2:

or

You should have got Nige at BCS to sort you out mate  :innocent:

Cheers mate.

Yeah they all seem to sit low.

I've already taken it back to awsome and they tried to get it a little higher(actually a bracket had come of) so that was sorted and the tailpipes sit more flush.
But the box is still very visible.
I'm still concerned about the rear bumper not being the same size as the real ones?.

Update for my car.

Fitted a genuine r32 rear as was never happy with the way my replica one fitted with miltek.

My concerns with the bumper were correct as the genuine one sits much better.

Had the bumper freshly painted as had a few deep scratches but had a brand new lower section.

Swapped over my reflectors and purchased a toe eye cover from dealers.

Next came the wheels I wanted a change from my monzas and I came across a near New set of 19 inch bbs lm replicas in mart black with polished lips.

Long drive upto Nottingham to get them.

Some phone pics below.

Comments welcome cheers.
