DSG jerky 2nd to 3rd using manual mode
« on: September 29, 2009, 11:58:28 am »
As per the title, when I change from 2nd to 3rd gear in manual mode using the paddles, there is quite a jerk which is quite noticeable.
Does anyone else experience this or is there a problem with my gearbox?
It's going in for a oil/filter change on the gearbox next week, so don't know whether this will make it any better or not?

it might be that the mechatronic control box thingy is on the way out?

its quite a common thing for the dealers to swap under warranty.

its an expensive part but as long as its warranted, you should be ok.

Quite a few of our member have had theirs changed recently, to which it transformed the DSG Box, all for free

Car is an 06 plate so won't be under warranty unfortunately. Is it an expensive part to replace?

Yep the part is around £1000 alone (according to my dealership when mine was replaced under warranty a month ago).  :scared:

Iv got mine booked in next tuesday for this exact issue, if im in D its not as noticeable, however if i use paddles or gear stick going up through the gears its pretty shocking, lungey and jerky.

Iv also noticed hessitation when at junctions which doesnt fill me with confidence

Hopefully they will sort it all out there and then as its out of warranty in December  :surprised:

Mechatronics tends to be a factory order part so I doubt it will get fixed there and then.

They may try 'basic settings' on it first as part of guided fault-finding but on mine that made it worse.  :sad1:

Slightly different, but mine was lurching when starting off - had the DSG ECU reset and its been fine since, fingers crossed. They'll most likely do this as part of the service.
Sideways yo!

Mine was servied on 24th August, but as I didn't own the car then I don't know what was done other than the service and brake fluid change.
Might ask them if resetting the ECU first is a viable option to replacing the mechatronics box!

DSG won't have been touched, I'm fairly sure of that - good start off point. Make sure it has latest software version and reboot it.

Will check that when I take it in next wednesday. I was thinking to myself to ask them if there were any software updates for the car.

Hopefully it'll just be a glitch, ironed out by the upgrade/reboot... but if worst comes to the worst, then I believe if you press VW enough, they'll cough some of the cost of the new unit out of warranty.

I'll definitely try for that but the oil/filter change that it's going in for should've been done at 40k not he 51k that he car has currentlydone! :surprised:
