Edition 30 plaque

Hey Guys

Firstly a big thank you without this forum I would have never have known about the plaque and how to order one.

On Friday evening I sent an email to VW UK, asking for a plaque.
I also included my vehicle details VIN - Reg etc, I received a call at 9am this morning asking for a copy of my V5 to be emailed across to a VW email.
As soon as I done that I received confirmation that the plaque was being sent Recorded delivery and that it should be with me within 1-2 days. What a result

Now I have a motorbike with a Ltd Edition number and I know that these numbers were not attached in the order that the bikes came of the production line, so how can we be certain that the number VW gives us is accurate, after all they did accidentally build 1000 more or so Edition 30's  

So is it just a lottery in terms of number picking ?

Not sure if its by build date or registration. My build date was 26th January 2008 and my plaque number is 1884.

I think it must be in the VIN code or something, but is there a way you can find out your build date?

I too was surprised to get quite a low number when I phoned VW for my plaque (no. 1387), and my car was registered in March 2008.
