Brake pads - what's the best option?

I've tried to so a search but nothing definitive really come up.

After "giving it some" the other day for the first time in my car, I felt the the brakes weren't as sharp or as strong as I would have expected. I've literally had no experience with brake pads, or different brake set ups to be honest so I've no idea what's the best option.

My first thought was to get some new pads as maybe my current ones are very worn (I'm not sure though) and it will probably be the cheapest option but I've no idea what the best ones would be for the Gti setup.

Other than pads, a new brake set up is another option. I know people do big brake conversions and run RS ones but I'm only planning on going stage 1, maybe stage 2 with the car. Again, what are my options for this?

good option especially for stage one would be the NQSBBK.

Massive range of pads to choose from.

if you stay with the standard set up I would go with Pagid pads.

Just had a read through that thread and i've done some ebay searchs. As much as i would like the Porsche calipers on the car, i just can't afford them at the moment. I do have a question though, do the rears need upgrading with porsche brakes too?

Look at the DS2500 or Mintex M1144. On a plain disc they should be fine for fast road

You don't need to upgrade the rear and can run your standard rears.

When I was stock I found the standard brakes utter pants. I'd save some pennies and get a 4 pot set up at the front if running stage 1 with thoughts of going stage 2.

I was pretty surprised really. I expected them to be much better. I think I'll get some new pads and save up for some 4 pots. Are the ones in the link you sent me the smallest/thinning brakes? I will probably end up running some aggressive wheel set up when I'm on air.

Camkills are working out very cheap for the mintex m1144... just call them up MDB2604M1144

I think thats the correct part number... youll need to double check!

I tried to get a set of M1155s from Camskill last week for the Boxster brakes. 6-8 weeks delivery as they had to be made to order. Give them a ring to check before you buy as they took my order and then gave me the news.
