Do some research, very well discussed issue.
cylinder liners become porous water from the cooling jackets seems into the cylinder and is burnt off.

It could very well be a headgasket but could also be that.
Who knows
Potato.

I used  Kseal in a previous car. Sorted out the leak No white smoke from the exhaust and no using a Gallon of G12/13 every week :signLOL: :signLOL:  Last I heard the car was still going strong and I saved £1700 for a new cylinder head   K seal is about £10 from ECP

So the Jetta is DEAD! started to cost more and more to fix from the start of this year and now it's finally died! Porous head, whining diff in the gearbox and the oil pump exploded the other day which had caused the engine to blow. It's been a great few years, but I'm going to move away from VW for a few years due to the fact that every VW I've owned over the years has done nothing but let me down, cost a fortune to fix and then broke. Maybe in a few years I'll come back to them, but for now I'm getting a cheap run-a - round to get me to work and back.

Thanks for all the kind and positive comments on my posts over the years.

Will still be going VW shows that I go to, just to admire this time.

I'm back..... Sort of! The Jetta has been missed diagnosed by a stupid mechanic!!! Turns out the engine is good and the oil pump is fine! All that needs doing is the head gasket and the turbo.

So unbelievably happy! Should be back on the road by the new year

Jaffa - Always have plans in mind - But stuff like this kills them dead.  I'm going to do whatever money allows, wheels, interior etc.

Maxitrol - Yeah that's how I've been feeling the last few months! Nothing but problem after problem. All common faults though, so hopefully after this it'll be right.
