Fitted JL Audio C5-653 3 way components
« on: March 23, 2014, 01:36:36 pm »
Hi guys I've had an opportunity to buy some used JL C5-653 component speakers from a local car audio specialist who took them in exchange for some Morel Elate's. Mega money units I've got an option to buy them super cheap but I want to be confident they will fit.

The internet spec sheet lists the mounting depth of the mid as 41mm, do you think that'll be ok with some mild fettling and squishing of the door card?

I'm going to the place around 3 this afternoon cash in hand so if anyone knows if really appreciate before I she'll out on them...

Thanks,
Pete.

Well at the moment I'm still running the stock RCD300 head unit, so I'm withholding final judgement until I've put something of appropriate quality in, but the sound is remarkably improved already.

The crossover is set to attenuate the tweeter -3db, while the mid is set to the middle level.

Bass is phenomenal, mids are well balanced, but the treble is a bit bright though I'm not sure if the head unit is to blame.

I would consider them a fair step up from things like the Hertz hi energy stuff, and for £200 I simply had to buy them!!!

200 quid? Bloody bargain :happy2:

One of the first things I do when I get my car later this month is to overhaul the speaker set up

Yeah they were too cheap to pass up!

I got a sinfoni 45.2x for 200 at the same time. Super high sq amp should make the jls sing. Off the rcd300 it's way better than factory but the unit is struggling to control them tightly.
