New to the forum and mk5 s
« on: February 15, 2014, 04:35:03 pm »
Hi all
New to the site , just bought a mk 5 gti
Totally standard car.
Had a few cars over the years and after learning everything there was to know about imprezas I fancied a change of marque but I'm totally in the dark with these cars.
Plans for car are getting bigger by the day as I've been on here a few months looking but I'll need advice so I've joined up.
Regards
Mick

Welcome to the forum mate.  You'll find a really nice bunch of people on here, who are always willing to help out fellow members.

Nice to hear you're a Scoob fan.  I've got a widetrack STI and MK5 GTI DSG.

Hi Andy
Yeah the more I look the harder it gets to decide
I'll keep reading .
Seen some impressive hp figures on these engines
But most of the threads I can't understand the abbreviations etc
Plan to sort handling brakes then decide wheel size rear r32 bumper and exhaust to suit
Intake and remap see where that takes me
Mick

Everything you can think off can be retro fitted.

A good place to start with brakes is either the Golf Mk5 R32/ Audi S3 set up (they're the same) or a 4 Pot BBK, such as the Porsche Brembo Boxster 986 BBK (known on here as the NQSBBK, loads of threads on this or look in my Build Thread). Both set ups will be a MASSIVE improvement over your OEM kit.

Handling wise, look at an Anti Lift Kit, either Superpro (SALK) or Whiteline (WALK) are the main contenders. Along with some Anti Roll Bars and some Engine mounts (definelty the lower engine mount and dog bone bush) that'll be a good place to start.

Oh and...... :worthless:

Happy modding!!
