My BKD needed a new ECU when it refused to start but cranked. Could literally be a load of things though.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Fuel Tank fuel pump would be my thoughts - get it scanned and see what shows up - see if anyone on this list is close to you!

I've just got back tonight so going to go round tomorrow, with the old vagcom. Seems pretty strange as he has had the car for over 3 year and never missed a beat. But I suppose things do break down.

That was my thought about the fuel lift pump under the rear seat.

Cheers for your replys lads

If it cut out suddenly then doesn't start, I would also say it is fueling related.

This would be my procedure Dan.

Scan to see what shows up then if the tools have to come out move on to this:-

First check is remove the fuel filter top and see if the chamber is less than 80% full.

Next test the pump on output test with the filter head in a container and you'll be able to see if it's pumping or not!

Finally, don't forget fuel gauges are only a guide it could be empty!

Hello lads,

My mate took his golf to the garage as I didn't get back from work quick as I should of, so it turned out being a faulty fuel pump, which knackered the relay switch and fuse!! However it was intermittent so he broke down on two seperate occasions, the friday and the monday!! With me still in spain !! Gr8 ! had to b aa recovered twice!! and a bill 4 £357 !! Before this I told not to drive the car but he still did, could him driving it be the reason why the fuel pump died without getting the relay checked out first.

Cheers Dan

Normally just the pump - the other items are not common to be taken out when the pump fails!

1K0 919 050 AB - £ 181.22 full retail inc vat

Or off eBay

Shame you didn't get a chance to sort it for him Dan!

To be honest I think the relay (with it bein intermittent)has failed first and with him keeping on driving it maybe buggered the pump.

Just seems strange how it was intermittent.
