Exhaust Clean

Only had the car about a month or so but the tips were doing my head in being so black!!!

I doubt the exhaust tips have ever been cleaned on this car

I think ours are passed saving!!  Although maybe a dremel on them would work.  Looking good so far - how did you do it?

A bit of glass cleaner sounds random but it works
Wire wool and autosol and plenty of time

I'm happy with the result so far, just need to find some more spare time

Is not possible to replace the chrome end pieces on the exhaust. As the rest of mine is fine

Autosol and wire wool will save them!

I've started using the britemax twins on them and more impressed than with autosol.

I think I used Silvo on mine. Worked a dream TBH!

I've got some autosol, its top stuff used it for years, just need some wire wool then!!

^^^^ Use LOADS of Autosol with some heavy duty wire wool and work your way down to 0000 grade wire wool for finishing it off.

Use a microfibre cloth and some metal polish. I'd avoid Autosol as it's very heavy. Start with a more gentle one if you can. Then if you need to work up to using wire wool you can of course do that.

I find Autofinesse Mercury works very very well.

Had good results over the weekend with some Surf City Garage Absolutely Aluminium. This is quite gentle, more watery than abrasive.

Mine were similar to those when I got my Gti, thought they'd never clean up but I used some Gunk engine de-greaser first which really shifted some of the heavy duty stuff and then as above wire wool and autosol. Makes a hell of a difference to the overall appearance of the car i think if it's got shiny pipes.
