Hey, just wanted to say hello, and introduce myself..I'm Alasdair from just outside Birmingham

Just brought a 07 plate golf ed 30 in red I pick it up in two weeks time.. My past car was a 10 plate focus st unfortunately I had to free up some cash so the st had to go with it's many problems lol

The golf had the usual vw issues.. Rear lights  condensated which will be replaced, wear on seat bolster which is going to be looked at, wheel caps going milky colour and wheel bolt covers which will all be replaced.

I want to fit cruise control and help or how to guides would be great.
It's had the cam belts replaced in 2011, but looking to get it done now as it's covered 40k since then, anyone got any ideas on prices, I've come across a company midland vw, any reviews on these

welcome to the site--congrats on a excellent buy..Iwould get the garage to replace the belt before you buy it or knock a bit of the asking price.The golfs mk5 do have issues as you mention and also check the front wings for rust also

 I tired but they wouldn't do anything because the book says 120,000km but I did get them to move on other stuff.
Ps how do you get the auto wipers to work?

Thanks for the welcome people no news as of yet when I can pick the car up still kind of arguing over the rear lights with the condensation even though most people will know vw say it's a phenomenon already looking at ordering a few bits been busy at work looking at ETKA and repair manuals lol deffinetly want to fit cruise control I missed that when I got rid of my a3, looks simple enough to do
