Detailing work
« on: February 17, 2014, 01:06:41 pm »
Hi guys, done a few forum members cars now.

Latest was Wills at the weekend. He came to me about 8.30 Sunday morning. Few pics to give you idea of work carried out.

As it arrived:

Quick chat with Will to discuss his requirements and problem areas, scratches, laquer distortion:

(Apologies for mobile pics)

Will left the car with me and got his bike out the boot to head home

I then got cracking:

Pressure washer to start. Then Billbery wheel cleaner and Citrus wash for arch liners:

Left them to do their work whilst I cracked the Snowfoam out. Magifoam my current choice:

Left to dwell for 10 minutes. Whilst that was working I got my shampoo ready, with lambswool mitt:

Rinsed the snowfoam off and got to work with the shampoo:

Door shuts:

Wheels:

Then rinsed again and patted dry with my towel:

Next I clayed all the panels and bumpers:

Fair bit came off:

Then I inspect the paint to check for defects and areas I need to focus on (main problems being on bonnet, roof and offside rear arch):

Next was the machine polish: Megs cutting pad and Menzura PF2500:

Several passes on the bonnet and signs of improvement:

Paintwork really starting to pop with more time:

Moved onto polishing pad and Menzura SF4500:

Dusty work:

So I gave it another going over with the pressure washer and another SF to lift dust and clear between panels:

Then patted dry again:

Left the paintwork to rest for a whilst so moved onto the inside. To be honest, didn't need it as Will had done, quick hoover, carpet shampoo and plastics wiped down and was done:

Wheels cleaned inside and out next with tyres dressed:

Then two coats of wax applied by hand:

Glass cleaned:

Tailpipes:

Then gave Will a call to say was ready to collect. Whilst I was waiting, trated paint work to some Zaino gloss echancer:

All done and keys waiting.

Very pleased with results, plus helped a nice sunny Sunday.
