REVO stage 2+ vs APR stage 2+

Has anyone changed from Revo to APR on here, and if so why???

Is your car running better? Any draw backs?

The reason I ask is I have a stage 2+ Leon Cupra by Revo and I've been offed 50% off the APR software if I switch over. I just want to see if anyone has done the same and if they think its worth doing.

Don't get me wrong the Revo software I have is spot on but the APR software is getting some very highly praised reports lately with there updated software.

If you have Revo and you're happy with it why change?

do APR not do a "try before you buy" where they flash the map on and let you drive around for half an hour or so?

I think in all.fairness they will be very simular maps.They are probably the best 2 genric maps you could have and the only really difference would be if you went to a full custom map wrote for your car.

I have recently learnt and experienced that K04 vehicles can suffer with compressor surge at or after stage 2 with Revo. Mine has had this issue minimized to the point where it is no longer a problem, but it is still there. I know that the latest APR software (3.4 I believe) deals with this issue specifically, and successfully by all accounts. I shant change though as my Revo installer is very local.

Gone but not forgotten :-)

Niki at r tech has also developed a system through inlet flaps or something along those lines to deal specifically with this problem on a ko4

Does Revo have to load something onto your car prior to being able to use the REVO SPS unit? Or can you simply install the tune from factory ECU with the SPS unit.
If the later is the answer than I suggest talking to the APR guys, revert your car back to stock. then go to APR and get the trial loaded.
If you are not sold (which will be extremely hard) then get them to reload the stock software back to the car and simply load your REVO software again with the SPS dongle.

I'm yet to see a Apr vs rtec.
 jabbasport have put a really good map on a k04 converted a3 tfsi and that's a good competitor

I have no idea I'm afraid. Hence I mentioned talk to your local APR dealer and explain to them about this.
you will most likely have to pay for there labour time to install and remove?
But I would recommend talking to them first.

The only reason I was thinking on changing was that I was getting it half price.

My cars running 373bhp/334lbft just now and a mates car with same mods but with the APR map ran 390bhp/395lbft on the same rollers a month later.

His car may be on different tyres with different pressures and rolling diameters.
His engine may be slightly healthier than yours
Atmospheric differences on the day
Dyno operator settings, etc.

All play a part. Numbers are for pub figures where as drivability and feeling, area under the graph are what count.

The sps doesn't contain the map, it just allows up to adjust the settings.
