Not to someone that doesn't fully understand what a throttle pedal is for, no.

I mean, who would want all that torque in the mid range, the car will be so in driveable around town and on the motorway.

How do focus RS drivers manage  :scared:

Ok I get it, more power = bad to you. You can't handle too much power, so you prefer your flame thrower software  :driver:

dont bite at eachother other software lol reminds me of the mk2 rs forum

end of the day everyone sticks up for there tuner 99% of the time, theres plenty of bad reviews on apr and plenty on revo.. suprisingly alot of the us members on golfmkv dont like apr though

end of the day if your happy with your tune dont worry what everyone else thinks i got revo on mine and its spot on all afr's good/smooth etc etc and making good power but itis a one off custom map not quite finished yet still under development with tsr

More power is not bad, its how its delivered. (although now you are resorting to stupidity, not good fella)  So we might as well leave it there............

You know, I was gonna comment on the same re the mapping threads.  I have no preferred tuner here by the way, my car was custom tuned my 'non of the above'.

This is the only Revo stranglehold left most of the other forums aren't big on Revo anymore, and also most of the high profile members ie hurdy, jonny, teff, all ditched Revo too.

They where ok in the past when they had a good mapper, but he jumped ship, so who do they have now? Last I heard the bloke who did custom code, but that might have changed also.

How should it be delivered on a turbo car? Like a NA Ferrari? If you want to be fast, you need as much BHP and Torque as possible from 4500rpm to redline. The APR software achieves that, but in your eyes that makes it "undriveable" which is rubbish. And let's not forget the fact that, there are also 4wd platform cars which use this engine, so traction at this power level isn't really an issue.

Nobody is talking about 4wd cars here, front wheel drive Golfs with 370+bhp ish are the topic.  Traction is always going to be an issue with that kind of power without a smooth delivery.  Why do you think so many are wanting or have the linear maps running this kind of bhp ?  My 300bhp Ed30 would wheelspin in 3rd on anything but bone dry roads, first and second were virtually unusable, (just short shifted though them) and into 3rd  then........boom your away !!  Sound familiar ??  ........  No ??   I think with a smoother map on my car it would have made it 'much' more driveable.  I should have had it tweaked to do this to be honest.........  Anyway, dont we all want different things from our cars ?

Anyway, you stick with your 4wd and plant all the power you want through it, you will probably be fine  :happy2:

i dont know all i seem to see is revo or rtech? revo is huge at the moment especially on fords now making some really big power 500,600,700hp mk2 RS running revo

teff didnt actually have any problems with revo itself did he mapping wise? and jonny was revo through and through untill he got involved working with apr?

i might use r-tech or giac one day but im not really to interested at the moment

Do linear maps (linear mapping not as in linear throttle right?) stop wheelspin In first and second? No they don't. If launching off the lights is your thing then a powerful fwd car really isn't suitable for that.

But like you say, 30mph, 3rd gear, the car hooks up nicely. Now it's pretty clear which map out of the two from a rolling race will be quicker. The APR map has a much greater area under the curve.

Your grievances are simply from a traffic light duel,  and at a low speed in a fwd car, the power difference usually makes no great impact on the 0-40 dash be it mapped or not in a fwd 2.0tfsi running the average summer tyres.

This can only bring it down to one conclusion, in which you need to drive to the conditions, and making use of the throttle pedal.

Now,  your talking a bit more sensibly..........

I mentioned in my first post that you rubbished, re driveability in the lower gears correct.  Once your up to speed and in higher gears its not so much an issue.  Now I am not a traffic light racer,  but these cars are hard to get off the line with big power and smoother mapping will help this.  People want WALK and Dogbones, mounts etc to help with launch (and hop), so its not just me who might want to shoe it away every so often

Why would you want a car with massive power that you cant get off the line if you really want to anyway ?

Any grievances I had were with your first response, not your opinion.  As you so obviously showed with mine.  I actually 'accept' others opinions   :wink:
