Newbie From Warrington
« on: February 19, 2014, 12:53:15 pm »
Hi All,

Bought my first VW on Saturday, Mk5 Golf GTI of course!

Previously owned a Clio 182, so a big improvement in terms of quality haha!

Looking forward to the ownership :)

Cheers,
Chris

I've not got any pics just yet but i will do a the weekend after a clean :) It's in for a cambelt & waterpump change today. Not due till Oct but wanted it done to be sure.

also having a hard start checked out, feels like it doesnt want to start up without giving it a bit of gas first thing in the morning, anyone have any ideas of what could be causing it?

I found leaving the ignition for 10 secs before starting the engine helped mine to start better.

Cheers guys, looks like a common fault! had it in for the cambelt today and they said at the garage I'm probably over worrying.

A worn cam follower can cause poor starting:-

Have read of this link

If I was you I would get your repairer to check it / change it when doing your belt!
