Windscreen rubber?
« on: February 24, 2014, 10:03:27 pm »
Hi it looks like my car has had a new windscreen in the past as I can see a little glue and there is a little gap on the near side down the pillar which is annoying me. Anyways I don't have a seal across the roof , should there be one or not?

Yes it will be bonded in by windscreen bond/glue maybes I'm not being clear. You know how you have two black seal/strips running up each side of the screen, well is there one that runs across the roof inbetween the glass and roof? Il maybes post a pic tomorrow  :happy2: I'd just of throught they would of been one in that's all most cars do

Mk5 golf windscreen will have a small rubber seal across the top. In the trade the call is a piss flap.it's actual name is a encapsulated moulding... You don't need it at and it's only cosmetic...nearly all vag group cars have stopped using one now

Here is what I mean just to be 100% , sorry for the dark poor pics. Pics are of were the windscreen meets the roof

Maybes a better pic

I know it's just cosmetic but I'd rather it be in. Do they just push in or glue in?

Yes the bottom pic is what I thought was missing something like that, but I see what I have missing. I rang vw to order the part but they said they only come with the windscreen so the seal thing must be bonded to the glass, don't know how mine has come off tho. So il just have to leave it be

Thanks for your help
