How would you know?
« on: October 01, 2009, 01:24:19 pm »
Hey guys just wondering how you would know if a car has been remapped previous to you owning it? for some reason i think my Gti which i picked up a couple of days ago feels like it pulls more than when i test drove an edition 30 (standard) awhile ago.

Would it be obvious?

Cheers

get a presure gauge rigged up and see what it reads acelerating in 4th gear, someone on here will know what a standard and mapped one reads
"If Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music."

ko3 GTI has less lag than a k04 edition 30, which is much more capable top end wise

do you still have the previous owners details? a quick letter to them might clear it up?

dyno it.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Get it on VCDS the engine ID will tell you if and how many times the ecu has been flashed.

not sure this would work as many companies now reset the flash counter when reprogramming the ecu
