RNS 510-What Aux Adaptor
« on: February 19, 2014, 08:45:30 pm »
I have a RNS 510, I have a aux port in the arm rest it's just not connected up, so does anyone know what adapter I would need to run to the back of the stereo!

Cheers

If it's already factory fitted.

I would suggest whom ever installed your RNS510 did not connect the AUX.
You will need to look in the back of the unit to see if it has been connected or not.

report back once you have done this. Then we will be able to better trouble shoot.

I do remember the RNS510 is the same as the RCD510 in which you need to go into the radio's options and enable AUX.
If the option does not appear.

you will have to log into the RNS510 with VCDS and enable AUX.

Okay thanks for that, ill have a look this weekend, i know that its no connected because ive looked at the port in the arm rest,
and there is nothing connected to the back of it.

But as you say it may be connected to the back of the RNS510. It didnt come factory fitted either.

Either someone replaced the armrest with a second hand one which has the AUX jack fitted. but didn't wire it in. Or the armrest had a cd changer in which someone has removed (along with the wiring harness) and left the AUX jack orphaned?
Sarcasm for free. Anything after that can only be considered as a bonus.

Just because you think you know something, doesn't make you an expert if you've just read it on the internet, y'know.

if you want to wire it in easiest way buy plug for aux jack, buy plug for 510 quadlock, buy some repair wires solder them together, put in car all done.
Loads of extra's and retro fits.

The car didn't come with an arm rest bloke before put one, it does have the AUX port just nothing that connects it to the RNS 510, I don't think there is one installed to the back of it im really just after what AUX adaptor i would need.

The plug on the back of the aux connector is 8k0 793 754  approx 1.25
the small repair wires for this socket would be 000 979 009 E    x3 as you'll need 6 ends (there the same on aux and quadlock connector) approx 2.98 each

multimedia in socket for quadlock   3B7 035 447 A     approx 5.50

pin 1 on aux connector to pin 7 on quadlock
pin 2..................................pin 2..................
pin 3..................................pin 1..................

this will give you aux in (turn it on first in the settings or media menu of the 510)

Or goto TPS for a little cheaper, but you'll still need to add some wire between these parts and preferably solder them together, plus if you remove the 510 you might even have one of the plugs already in the quadlock, if you have a CD player for instance
