Hi guys,
Posted a message here not so long ago about a major electrical fault that I caused more than likely by jump starting my car. Blew 9 ecu modules and tried to claim through the insurance. Well they took my car away and got one of their engineers to look at it and they have come back to me saying they won't cover me for accidental damage to mechanical or electrical. They also said that it could have been caused by wear and tear! WTF?? When does a car have such a major electrical fault through wear and tear.
Anyway they said I could get an independent garage to inspect and if they can prove it was caused by my jump start then they will look into it again. To be honest I really cba with all that and I haven't got the money to be paying someone to do that.
So I am going to sell the car in the state that its in unless anyone has any other suggestions. However I need some help in costing up what my car is worth in the condition that its currently in. I don't want to sell all the individual parts like the engine etc because I don't have the room to store car in the meantime and all its parts. Just to clarify. The car does drive and drives beautifully. There is absolutely nothing wrong mechanically. Car drives like it normally would. and headlights are working apart from the high beam (the one when you flash lights). ( I do have the read out from VAGCOM if needed). It basically said 9 of the modules are not responding with the computer.
SO...
Its a Tornado Red Golf GTI Mk5 2005.
Manual.
118000 miles on the clock.
18" Monza alloys.
Its pretty much as standard apart from it has an R-Tech stage 1 remap.
It has 12 months MOT (literally just had it MOT'd and passed with no advisories and has 5 months tax).
The car engine and mechanical parts are in fantastic condition and it drives beautifully and pulls like a train! However the only fault with the car is the electrical problem (indicators, wipers, windows, locking etc do not work).
It had a service in November 2013 and included, PCV (latest revision) cambelt and waterpump change and has only done maybe a couple of thousand miles since.
Brand new KO3 genuine turbo fitted a year ago and DV valve (latest revision).
Cam follower done a year ago.
new pads on the rear.
4 brand new tyres (Uniroyal Rainsport 3) fitted only a couple of weeks back. They have done less that 100 miles! (GUTTED).
Monza alloys are in ok condition (scuffs and could do with being reconditioned)
Brand new Exide battery again put in only a couple of weeks back.
Bodywork is on good condition apart from the usual stone chips.
All engine work done by Alex at AKS tuning.
If anyone could help me work out what I could sell my complete car for that would be great. I know these engines alone can sell for over £1000 and that's without ancillaries however I am not willing to sell individual parts. Whoever buys this would need to buy the whole thing.
Thanks so much in advance.
Still gutted :(
