This has got to be one of the best threads on this forum.

In fact (excuse my warped sense of humour here), it's got everything...

The disaster
The kindness of strangers restoring faith in humankind
The happy ever after (I hope I'm not being premature)

Any chance of a love story?  Then we'd have the full house...

Seriously - the very best of luck.

LOL well you never know! ;) Not had any good offers yet lol

And cheers mate :)

Haha, that was good.

I think a love story is a bit too much to hope for, I'd settle for opening the glove box and finding the bag of Cadbury's Eclairs that he'd forgotten about.

Anyway, best of luck the OP in any event... if you are that lucky, I think your first trip out should be to the newsagents for a scratch card.  :happy2:

Rich.

LOL With the way my luck has been lately, I would buy a scratch card and end up getting -£500 and owing the shop money haha (Get the violins out) ;)

Nah I have had a go on the health lottery so if I win I will ditch the car and get a mk7 :)

Ok, A bit of an Update

I've looked at the car, what a mess the garage made of the car not fitting the trims properly.  Also leaving the Airbag switch and Inclination sensor all unplugged.

I re-fitted all these and removed the nokia phone kit.

I then checked the alternator output, scanned the car with vcds no new faults from the scan done by Matto. My lead accessed the modules without any trouble.

After locking the car I then checked all the circuits in the Engine and interior fuse boxes, all circuits shut down apart from one fuse in the Interior fusebox. This was for the Diagnostic port

So., nothing much wrong other than the crap job done by someone else?
Sarcasm for free. Anything after that can only be considered as a bonus.

Just because you think you know something, doesn't make you an expert if you've just read it on the internet, y'know.

Hi Ed,

Just wanted to say thank you so much for giving up your time and looking at my car yesterday! Really appreciate it.

Thanks also to everyone who chipped in to help on the thread and to Matto and John A who did some diagnostics for me. Also to  John (Doylebros) who spend lots of time emailing, spending me the gateway and CECM and helping me out over the phone. It's really nice to know that people will go out of their way to help someone else out!

So the only thing I can try now is a battery test. The only thing I can think of is that the battery was never fully charged when Eurocarparts sold it to me. I then had it fitted and it sat on the drive for a couple of days. It then sat on the forecourt of the garage for over a week. It was then dead when I picked it up so they jump started it and I drove it home. It was only a 45 min drive so might not have been enough to charge it. It then died again over night twice. So now I have had it connected to the battery conditioner for a few days and the 7 hour total drive I did yesterday to see Ed, it may have a good charge. So the plan is to leave it now for a few days without the charger on it and see if it dies again. If it does then I give up lol

Will keep you all posted!

Thanks again everone :)

Glad Ed was able to help you out further. Bet your scan looks even better now  :happy2: Hopefully a good charge of the battery has sorted these issues out.

Well since picking my car up from the garage a week ago, all faults seem to have dissapeared on their own. The car just started working again and I have no idea how. Took the car to Matto on Sunday morning and he did a scan for me which showed some fault codes but they were due to the airbags being disconnected and ther radio not being plugged in. The lovely guys at the garage took my car to bits and then decided they couldn't be bothered to put it back together properly. They even broke my hazard switch which I am now going to have to try and replace. I am defo going to make a complaint about the state they left the car in.

I took the car to Ed in Great Yarmouth who checked all the fueses to see if anything was draining the battery and there was nothing at all that was showing apart from the diagnostics port. But this was showing an acceptable level of drain.

But in regards to the original faults where I thought that all the modules were fried, they are all working perfectly and responding to VCDS. I have no idea how this happened. I can only think that when I jump started the car or the battery went flat, the car probably shut down all the electrics as a protection thing. I really don't know.

But the car is driving perfectly and if I get this battery drain sorted then the car is back to normal :)
