[Hello] Potential New MK5 Owner

Hate these 'hello' posts, but feel like I should say hello, so hello...

I'm on Audi-sport.net I have an Audi A3 8L (2000) at the moment and always wanted one, but now with it being 14 years old I think it's starting to become a bit of a financial drain, there's something every week that needs replaced - today's debarcle is no brakes due to the PCV hoses splitting!! Scary to say the least! I'm no averse to replacing items and like to get my hands dirty as I've always had older cars (CRX, minis and mk2 Escorts) but with a baby on the way, I think it's time to start looking at something slightly newer. I have a friend of a friend that has had a mk5 and has had lots of problems with his, but even still, it doesn't put me off. I'll be reading and reading mostly on here, so won't be posting much (unless my limited mechanical knowledge can help someone), and am looking to buy a 05/55 black/dark grey 5dr GTi (manual!)  for around £4-4.5k at the end of the year. I don't think the pricing is too far out of what to expect as I've seen many go for less than £5k lately.

Anyway, that's my story :scared:
