RCD510 installers in Bedford
« on: February 21, 2014, 07:00:23 pm »
Have a 57 GTI and looking to replace the standard radio I have. I will obtain the canbus gateway (which one I don't know), anyway does anyone know any decent installers who can; install, fit canbus in the Bedford or Milton Keynes area.
Many thanks

You might not need new can 57 onwards was when they updated can for no battery drain,  you might well be OK
Loads of extra's and retro fits.

Check your VIN, if the 10th digit is a 8 then that would indicate its a 2008 model year (a 57-plate should be) which means the CANBUS is already the new version.

I'd suggest trying a DIY install, it should literally be plug and play. The only additional hardware you'll need is a Fakra antenna adapter to convert the cars 2 individual antenna connections into a single double connector.

You can do the install without the FAKRA cable. Simply removing the plastic housings will do

Thanks, pretty good with a calculator but my DIY skills (both house and car) are somewhat limited hence why more than willing to pay someone to do a professional world.
Just checked and VIN has an 8 as the tenth number.
Still no one able to recommend audio installers in Bedford or MK
Thanks in advance
