Air Con Compressor Help
« on: February 24, 2014, 04:12:55 pm »
Hi Guys,

I have a faulty air con compressor on my GTi and I cannot get to the part number in the engine bay! I have been to the stealers and managed to get hold of 2 part numbers that came up under the VIN number for my car.

1k0 808 820 dx
1k0 808 820 fx

I understand this is quite a common fault with the MK5 and was hoping that somebody else may have been through this process before and could shed some light on the correct part number so I dont have to remove the front end twice to get it repaired!

Any help would be much appreciated

A little more info.. The air con compressor wouldnt hold any gas. The guy at the garage said that a seal had gone on the compressor and that it needed replacing. Anyone else had this issue?

My starting point would be the high pressure switch and seal - the compressors are weak but the switch and regas is cheaper!

The switch is located on the aircon pipework just around the alternator area - the switch in question goes porous .

This is the item

Would replace that and the seal around £40ish if I remember correctly.
